The "AbsorPole" is an innovative desiccant configuration to prevent
condensation and 'container rain' in intermodal sea and truck shipping
containers. The "AbsorBag" is a similar desiccant but for
more general use.
AbsorPole is made expressly for 20-ft and 40-ft shipping containers for ocean
and intermodal transport and designed specifically to fit "flush" into
the spaces of the 'corrugations' of the walls of shipping containers without
taking space or interfering with loading the containers.
It is a telescoping two-piece plastic "tube" with a cross section that
"fills" the space in the corrugations. It is packed with enough
calcium chloride desiccant so that 6-8 of these units will handle a 20-ft
container with normal materials and provide the maximum moisture protection
during shipping. 12-16 are recommended for a 40-ft container, depending on
the material and environmental conditions.
They're easy to use because they attach by simply hanging with the hook
provided onto the bullnoses inside the container. The user simply slides
telescoping sections as far as they will go which exposes the dessicant to
the air, hangs the 'expanded' units by the provided hooks onto the bullnose,
and the job is done. The container can be loaded immediately and no
attention is needed. At the "unload" end, the material is
safe and can be discarded with other container scrap. Plus, they are
immediately visible on quick inspection hanging high inside the containers.
We also handle other traditional bagged general-purpose materials for
shipping containers, including Container-Dry and Container-Dry-II, as well as
desiccant bentonite and montmorillonite clays. While effective and widely
used, those involve a large number of small bags which must be placed about
under the pallets, they do not absorb as much moisture as the the
"AbsorPole", and they are essentially invisible in place. The "AbsorPole"
